Newcastle make €36m bid for Arsenal-linked midfielder Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United are reported to have made a move for Lyon midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes.

Fans of Newcastle are probably familiar with the name Bruno Guimaraes due to his links to Arsenal.

On Tuesday alone, it would be reported by Sky Sports News that Arsenal had not given up on trying to sign Guimaraes:

It is easy to see why Arsenal may wish to target Bruno Guimaraes, given their lack of options in midfield right now and with Mohamed Elneny out of contract in the summer.

Guimaraes, meanwhile, is a very well-rounded defensive midfielder who has provided six assists in 25 ties across 2021/22 so far.

However, the Gunners look as though they could be beaten to the signing of the Brazilian.

RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi has reported that Newcastle have made a €36m bid for Bruno Guimaraes on Tuesday evening, and are willing to quadruple his current salary:

Whilst news that Newcastle are trying to sign Guimaraes will likely please Newcastle fans, much of the other transfer news surrounding their side of late has not been great at all.

As 101 have already covered, Sevilla have decided that they will not be letting Newcastle target Diego Carlos leave the club this month.

Elsewhere, Atalanta are understood to have turned down a Newcastle bid for Duvan Zapata. Newcastle, therefore, will no doubt be hoping to have much better look with Bruno Guimaraes.
