Venom Is Being Forced To Evolve Into A New Symbiote Creature

In the latest issue of Venom, Dylan Brock and his father’s symbiote are being manipulated into an evolution, becoming something altogether new.

Warning: spoilers ahead for Venom #4!

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ Venom, Dylan Brock and his father’s symbiote have been pushed into a new evolution, becoming something potentially far more powerful than they were before. In the face of Eddie Brock’s death and the reborn Life Foundation hunting the new Venom in the aftermath, Dylan has found himself caught up in a major conspiracy involving symbiotes, leading to far more questions for Eddie Brock’s son than answers. However, it’s possible that this evolution could lead to new clarity for Marvel’s new Lethal Protector.

In previous issues of Venom, Dylan became a fugitive, running from Carlton Drake and the reborn Life Foundation. Not only is the Life Foundation back in the Marvel Universe, but they’re also working in conjunction with the Friends of Humanity, an anti-alien political group spearheaded by Senator Krane, a former host of Carnage who likely still has loyalties to the sadistic symbiote villain. Furthermore, the Life Foundation, Friends of Humanity, Alchemax, and more are all part of a larger conspiracy known as the « Absent Throne, » a massive network of powerful groups and individuals working in the shadows involving the symbiote race and the manipulation of their power.

As such, Venom #4 from Ram V and Bryan Hitch reveals the fallout of Dylan being betrayed by Archer Lyle, a friend of Eddie’s who Dylan thought he could trust, had the Life Foundation not gotten to her first. However, while Dylan and the symbiote known as Sleeper are captured by the Life Foundation and Alchemax, Venom isn’t. As such, the symbiote half of the Lethal Protector makes its way to Dylan, bonding with him just in time for the two of them to fight back as one against Life Foundation security, evolving with a new look and spider on their chest, seemingly indicating their first genuine symbiosis despite the shared pain and suffering over Eddie’s death that has been causing a significant rift.

However, this evolution may be exactly what the Absent Throne wants, appearing to be all part of the plan according to Meridius, a new cosmic foe Carlton Drake is seen reporting to at the issue’s end. While the villain certainly looks as though he’s somehow connected to the symbiote race known as the Klyntar, he still remains an almost total enigma. In any case, it’s going to be interesting to see what it is exactly Dylan and Venom have evolved into considering the « unique physiology » carried by the original Venom’s son.

It certainly seems as though the main priority for Dylan and Venom will be to fight their way out of this Alchemax facility before they can stop and process what exactly has happened to them. Have they gained new powers, are they stronger, or are they newly vulnerable to far grander plans than either could suspect? Fans will just have to wait and see as the newly evolved Venom‘s journey continues from Marvel Comics.
