An insight into the understandably frustrated response of those in a position of power at Tottenham Hotspur to news of Liverpool’s last-minute counter attack for Luis Diaz has, on Friday, been provided.
The name of wide-man Diaz has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines over the course of the day to date.
This comes with the 25-year-old understood to be on the verge of a move to England, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
As per a host of reliable sources, those in a position of power at Anfield have all but struck an agreement with their counterparts at Portuguese heavyweights Porto, over a deal worth a potential 60 million euro.

Such developments, however, in fact only came about after speculation began to spread in the media that Diaz was instead inching towards a move to another of the Premier League’s biggest clubs – Tottenham.
The Liverpool hierarchy are understood to have caught wind of the efforts of the transfer team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stepping up their efforts to land the Colombian prior to Monday’s transfer deadline, in turn stepping in to hijack the deal at the last minute.
And now, an insight into precisely how Daniel Levy and co. were left feeling after being outdone in the Diaz sweepstakes has been provided.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, all at Spurs are ‘very angry’ with both Liverpool and the situation as a whole, having been ‘close’ to closing an agreement with Porto themselves.

The Tottenham brass, however, have little time to sit around and feel sorry for themselves.
This comes with the January transfer deadline now less than 72 hours away, and the Lilywhites yet to provide boss Antonio Conte with the kind of reinforcements the Italian no doubt deems necessary to prolong his side’s push for a top-4 berth in the Premier League.
One such alternative target to have since been identified comes in the form of Dejan Kulusevski, albeit with an agreement on the terms of a loan move to north London yet to be found with Juventus.
