Battle royale Fall Guys changed their Twitter name and banner after getting roasted as a « really stupid game » by Uncharted actor Tom Holland.

Fall Guys has renamed its Twitter page after Tom Holland casually dropped some shade on the game in an interview. Fall Guys is a unique platform-based battle royale in which players compete across a series of stages where they must race against other players, surmount obstacles, and sometimes play mini-games like soccer. All this is done in a series of rounds, that players have to survive in order to move on. One of the main gimmicks of the game is that the movement controls are deliberately somewhat janky, making controlling your character difficult.

Tom Holland had recently spoken to Screen Rant to promote his upcoming film Uncharted based on the popular video game franchise by Naughty Dog studios. During the interview, while talking about playing video games on set, Holland mentioned that Uncharted was not the most played game in the actors’ downtime. Rather, they would often play what he referred to as a « really stupid game »:  Fall Guys. In fairness, however, playing Uncharted is more involved than sitting down for a quick round of a BR game, and as Holland explained, he did not have much leisure time to just sit around and game during the filming.

Since Holland made these comments the Fall Guys Twitter account has changed its name to reflect Tom Holland’s quote. The change was accompanied by a screenshot of a part of text from the interview and the message « might set this as our Twitter header for the rest of the day to celebrate ».  In the screenshot, Holland went on to jokingly agree that he and Chris Pratt would be starring in the Fall Guys movie a few years down the line.

Holland is not the only Marvel actor to have an interest in Fall Guys. In January, Brie Larson, known for her role as Captain Marvel, said she had a « ridiculous » relationship with the unique free-for-all. Larson was known to be an avid gamer prior to this, but with Tom Holland and possibly Chris Pratt joining the mix as Fall Guys players, maybe a future movie based on the game would have to take place in the MCU. Admittedly unlikely, but the idea of Loki and Thor in Fall Guys costumes at least makes it worthy of consideration.

A Fall Guys movie would certainly be a unique experience, and the idea seems highly unlikely on the surface. That being said, video game adaptations have been very popular lately, with some, such as Riot Games’ Netflix show Arcane, doing phenomenally well. Fall Guys took off during the pandemic as a way of giving isolated people some social interaction. Now, Tom Holland’s comments can give lovers of the game hope of seeing it on the big screen sometime in the future.
