Batwoman Star Javicia Leslie Reacts To Jeopardy! Clue About Show

Batwoman’s Javicia Leslie takes to Instagram to react to the series appearing as a question on Jeopardy!, even including her and Ruby Rose’s names.

Leading star of The CW’s Batwoman, Javicia Leslie, recently took to Instagram to react to the first Jeopardy! question to feature not only her own name but also to be based on the series as a whole. After premiering in October 2019 and having Ruby Rose lead a full season as Kate Kane, the Australian actress announced in May 2020 that she would not be returning for the second season, and Leslie was soon cast as the new series lead, Ryan Wilder, in July 2020. The original character then made her official debut in Batwoman after the second season premiered in January 2021.

The series is currently airing its third season, featuring Ryan suiting as Batwoman alongside her team of allies as they battle many familiar faces from Batman’s own rogues’ gallery, including Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, and Professor Pyg. Alongside Leslie, the cast includes Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya, Nick Creegan as Marquis Jet, and Robin Givens as Jada Jet. Ever since her debut, Ryan Wilder has become an increasingly popular character, being the first Black character to take up the mantle of Batwoman and also being integrated into the DC Comics source material.

In a recent Instagram post, Leslie posted an image of the Jeopardy! question about the series, which mentioned both her and Ruby Rose’s names as the defenders of Gotham City. In the caption of the post, the actress joked that she would have frozen due to nerves if she had appeared on Jeopardy! in person. After it was posted to her Instagram, fellow actors, mostly her CW co-stars, took to the comments to congratulate Leslie on her name appearing in such a famous show. Check out the post below:

As previously mentioned, not only has the character of Batwoman been made extremely popular due to the show being on the air, but also because of the original creation of Ryan Wilder. The character has been noted as a role model for both younger people of color and LGBTQ+ youth, with Leslie herself being bisexual and Wilder being a lesbian, granting younger people of minority groups a superhero to look up to. After making her first appearance in a Batgirl comic and with her series continuing as a success on The CW, it can be assumed that Wilder will continue within the source material in her own right.

Indeed, Batwoman is gradually becoming more of a household name, even reaching a more widespread audience with a mention on such a famous show like Jeopardy! Furthermore, while Leslie’s incarnation continues to grow in popularity, it opens the door quite a bit to her possibly becoming the next Batwoman in the comics, after her brief appearance. Either way, Batwoman returns to continue its third season on February 23.
