Book of Boba Fett Fan Trailer Imagines Disney+ Series As A 1980s Show

A newly released fan trailer for The Book of Boba Fett imagines the Disney+ series as a delightfully shlocky 1980s primetime adventure TV show.

A newly released fan trailer for The Book of Boba Fett re-imagines the Disney+ show as a series from the 1980s. The latest Star Wars offering from Disney continues the Boba Fett story as a reformed bounty hunter on a quest to take control of the criminal underworld on Tatooine. The finale aired this week and is currently available to watch on Disney+.

The Book of Boba Fett picked up immediately after the events of The Mandalorian season 2. Having retrieved his armor and returned to Tatooine, both Boba Fett and Fennec Shand begin a war to rid the desert planet of the spice trade running within the local community. This leads the former bounty hunter to recruit a rag-tag group of heroes (including The Mandalorian) to protect the civilians living on the planet from further atrocities.

Now, with The Book of Boba Fett’s story now fully available to stream on Disney+, fans have started to re-edit portions of the series and put their own spins on the narrative. Specifically, a new fan trailer released by Auralnauts on YouTube re-imagines The Book of Boba Fett as a series released in 1985, rather than 2021. Check out the fan trailer below:

The above video imagines a world in which the live-action Star Wars franchise took a considerably shorter break after Return of the Jedi. It showcases a trailer for The Book of Boba Fett as if the series were to come out in 1985, only two years after the conclusion of Star Wars’ original trilogy. As such, this version of the trailer for The Book of Boba Fett comes packed to the brim with delightful 1980s cliches, including dramatic voiceover narration walking audiences through the premise of the show, as well as a heavily synthesized rendition of The Book of Boba Fett’s score.

Of course, looking at this trailer, it makes quite a bit of sense for The Book of Boba Fett to get this type of treatment. It arguably matches well with the pulpy, grindhouse atmosphere that director Robert Rodriguez brought to the series as a major creative force behind the scenes and matches with what a live-action Boba Fett series likely would’ve looked and felt like in the 1980s. Moreover, as many fans have already likened The Mandalorian to classic 1990s series such as Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules in the way it approaches its storytelling, it makes quite a bit of sense for The Book of Boba Fett to be re-imagined with a similar throwback sensibility. For now, The Book of Boba Fett is currently streaming in its entirety on Disney+.
