Arsenal dealt blow in pursuit of Alexander Isak

An update on reported Arsenal target Alexander Isak has emerged recently.

Alexander Isak was linked with Arsenal during January, with 101 covering reports on deadline day that suggested the Gunners saw a €70m bid for the Swede turned down.

Elsewhere, in a recent interview, Isak was asked about interest from Arsenal, but remained coy on the situation: “I am not talking about other clubs.

“I am a Real player, I work here and this is my club. My work is on the pitch, and as I told you before, there are other people who work outside.”

The hitman was then asked if he will stay at Sociedad, to which he responded: “You can never be sure of anything.

“As I always say, you never know what can happen in football but in the end I’m here, happy, and nothing more.”

Whilst that interview did not give too much away about Isak’s real interest in Arsenal, new reports look to have done so and it does not seem to be great news for the Gunners.

As per football.london citing Spanish outlet Sport, Alexander Isak prefers a move to Barcelona over a transfer to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer of 2022.

Who else can Arsenal target instead of Alexander Isak?

If Isak does not end up going to Arsenal, it remains clear that Mikel Arteta’s side need a new striker in the summer.

But who could they target? Dusan Vlahovic has already moved to Juventus, whilst you would assume Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins, who Arsenal have been linked with this year, would likely cost a fair bit given they are English and have Premier League experience.
