Arsenal turn attentions towards Chelsea loanee in summer striker chase

Those in a position of power at Premier League giants Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the situation of an on-loan member of the setup at capital rivals Chelsea, according to reports.

The player being eyed by the Gunners? Armando Broja.

Hitman Broja has of course seen his name catapulted into the spotlight of late, owing to a string of stellar performances for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton.

After finding the net in the Saints’ win over Tottenham in midweek, the Albanian took his tally for the season to a none-too-shabby eight goals.

It is, in truth, Broja’s all-round brilliance, though, which has begun to catch the eye, with the 20-year-old boasting a whole rake of impressive attacking attributes.

And, as alluded to above, one club to have evidently had their attentions piqued by the brilliance of Chelsea’s up-and-coming hitman is Arsenal.

As per a report from football.london correspondent Chris Wheatley, Broja is ‘high on the wish list’ of Mikel Arteta and co., ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

This comes with the youngster boasting a number of admirers at the Emirates, with Arsenal, of course, having placed the addition of a new striker at the top of their priority list ahead of the expiration of both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s respective contracts.

It remains to be seen, however, whether or not the board at Stamford Bridge will be open to the prospect of Broja joining a direct London rival.

Gunners’ rivals stuttering

Turning attentions back towards the present at Arsenal, it has of course proven an altogether positive weekend to date for Mikel Arteta’s troops.

This comes despite the Gunners having actually been afforded a week off, though, owing to Chelsea’s participation at the Club World Cup.

Amid the hard-fought battle for the final Champions League berth in the Premier League, both Manchester United and Tottenham have already dropped points, with West Ham on course to do likewise amid a 1-1 stalemate with Leicester City.

Should the scoreline remain the same through the full-time whistle at the King Power Stadium, Arsenal, in turn, will be in pole position to clinch 4th spot, ahead of a tense season run-in in the top-flight of English football.
