The role played by Arsenal in Newcastle United’s opening goal during the club’s meeting with Aston Villa on Sunday has been widely highlighted across social media.
Eddie Howe’s men, of course, are currently locked in action at St. James’ Park.
On the back of an impressive 3-1 downing of Everton in midweek, the Magpies today turned their attentions towards a meeting with the aforementioned Villa, eyeing a 3rd successive three-point haul in a bid to put some distance between themselves and the Premier League’s relegation zone.
And, as things stand, another victory is precisely what Newcastle appear headed towards.
This comes with the Geordie giants currently leading by a goal to nil on Tyneside, owing to another fine strike on the part of Kieran Trippier.
After opening his account in the colours of the Magpies courtesy of a sumptuous free-kick in midweek, Trippier added another set-piece strike to his collection this afternoon, albeit on this occasion with the help of a considerable deflection:

The Gunners link
And, as alluded to above, on the back of Trippier’s effort finding the back of the Aston Villa net, an altogether humorous link between Newcastle’s opener, and Premier League rivals Arsenal, has been widely highlighted across social media.
This comes with Calum Chambers, who swapped north London for Villa Park just last month, having felled former Gunners teammate Joe Willock in the direct lead-up to the goal.
Not only that, but Trippier’s ensuing free-kick deflected off none other than ex-Arsenal target Emiliano Buendia, before making its way past, you guessed it, a one-time shot-stopper at the Emirates, in the form of Emi Martinez.
