Kyle Abrams and Shaina Hurley were one of the six couples to get engaged in Love is Blind. However, Kyle’s awkward proposal left viewers cringing.

Kyle Abrams proposed to Shaina Hurley on Love is Blind season 2, but this awkward proposal caused many viewers to cringe. Kyle is a 29-year-old with a strong and adventurous personality. He is also an atheist. Shaina, however, is 32 years old and a devout Christian, looking for a mature relationship to settle down with. While experts say opposites attract, these two don’t seem to have anything in common. Nonetheless, they built a strong connection, and Kyle found himself smitten.

Kyle enjoys talking to a woman who can deal with his powerful personality. He confided to the camera, “She knows how to make me happy, and whenever I hear her voice, she just, like, lifts my spirits. Am I gonna throw away an amazing woman because we disagree on religion?” Unfortunately, Shaina seemed less convinced that they could work out their differences. She also had her eye on another contestant, Shayne Jansen. Regardless of their distinct differences, Kyle took a risk and proposed to Shaina. However, the proposal had many viewers cringing and wondering why Shaina would accept.

Kyle proposed to Shaina using his mother’s ring. While this is normally an endearing sentiment, he begins by stating his mother is a “very, very religious” woman that Shaina reminds him of. “She makes me the happiest. I want someone who resembles her.” A man with a strong relationship with his mother is always attractive and can provide insight as to how they treat their partner. However, most women would consider so many strong comparisons like that to be off-putting.

Aside from listing how his mother and the Love is Blind co-star Shaina are similar, the proposal focuses on their primary difference: their religious preferences. Although his willingness to be open-minded reveals the surprising amount of faith he has in the relationship, his proposal should’ve been more positive. Instead of highlighting the biggest fear that causes Shaina to re-evaluate the relationship, he should’ve pointed out their strengths and what makes him believe they can overcome the hurdle successfully.

In the end, Shaina accepted, but admitted her reluctance to the cameras. It appears as the hesitancy continued as the two met and went to Mexico. After refusing to sleep in the same bed, Shaina left Kyle in Mexico and went home early. The relationship between these two doesn’t seem promising, as she continues to refer to her other love interest and Kyle complains about the lack of communication. There are five more episodes left of season 2 Love is Blind and viewers are eager to learn if these two will become a successful fan favorite.
