Michael Scott is known for many things. He’s known for his alter-egos, unique business shenanigans, and the odd things found in his office. Since Michael treats those working at Dunder Mifflin Scranton like they’re his family, he brings things from home to make his and his employees’ time at work more comfortable.

Aside from snacks, alcohol for holiday parties, and random props to waste time while hearing back about possible downsizing, Michael also has a few strange things in his office that fans noticed during their rewatch. From small gadgets on his desk to a hidden safe in his cabinet, Michael Scott has some strange things in his workspace.

A Small Nose?

There are a few things in Michael’s office that don’t make too much sense. At any given time, fans of the series can typically find an American and British flag, a small fan, a World’s Best Boss coffee mug, and a small toy resembling teeth. However, in a few scenes, there’s a small version of a nose floating around on his desk.

While Dwight made it known that his biggest insecurity was his small nose, Michael could have bought this even smaller nose as a gag. However, it’s unsure what it is and why Michael has it. It could be a handheld pencil sharpener but it’s hard to tell.

The Trashed Tiramisu

Michael loves his employees because he’s always wanted a big family filled with emotional ups and downs. Sadly, Michael’s office hijinks bother a majority of the office, so many of them don’t want to spend their lunch breaks with Michael. Because of this, Michael eats alone in his office on most days. In one of Michael’s saddest scenes, he commented on eating lunch alone might as well have been dinner.

Knowing that he eats in his office often, it wasn’t weird to see him eating a large piece of tiramisu. However, what makes it an odd find is that moments before, Pam tossed the tiramisu Jim gifted her in the trash… This means that Michael grabbed the tiramisu out of the trash and ate it in his office without them knowing…

Michael Isn’t Going For Bulk, He’s Going For Toned

There are a few items in Michael’s office that don’t move around much or at all. And two of those items were Michael’s two-pound dumbbells. They’re typically found against the wall behind Michael’s desk by the window.

Funny enough, the dumbbells made another appearance in an episode that held some of Michael’s most inappropriate lines, ‘The Convict.’ While outside with his employees to get everyone some « outdoors » time, Michael took these dumbbells out of his trunk. Jim made a sassy comment about the weight, but Michael had a quick comeback. He wasn’t going for bulk, he was going for tone. It’s funny to imagine Michael doing arm curls in his office when the door is closed.

Michael’s Fake Timepiece

Michael is a very obvious man but he wishes he was a man of mystery, style, and wealth. To show off his unique style and privilege, he as a certificate of authenticity on his office wall for a « Seyko timepiece. »

While this doesn’t seem like a big deal, an eagle-eyed fan on Reddit realized the spelling error in the brand Seiko. This means that Michael bought a fake Seiko watch online, thinking that it was real. If Michael knew it was fake he wouldn’t have ever hung up the certificate on his wall.

Great Scott Salad Dressing

Michael and Jan had some amazing episodes together when they were colleagues and dating. When Jan was fired from Dunder Mifflin, she moved in with Michael and made appearances at the Scranton branch for lunches with Micahel.

In one scene, the two are eating salads and talking about Ryan’s new plan to make the company younger and more modern. Right in front of Michael’s phone is a big Mason jar of salad dressing that has a logo of Michael’s face and a salad on it, saying, Great Scott. It’s easy to imagine Michael creating his own salad dressing and thinking it was so good that he could jar it up and sell it.

A Handheld Granade?

Another item on Michael’s desk that doesn’t move often is a small grenade plaque of sorts. It’s unknown what the award is for, but Michael is never opposed to showing off everything he’s won in his life. He has plaques and certificates on his walls, he has this grenade, and he also has a few Dundies floating around his office.

Perhaps this award is from paintballing with Dwight? Or maybe something he gifted himself for being so explosive in the office?

A Foot Fan And Food Dehydrator

It took some time, but Michael and Erin became BFFs the longer they worked together. At first, Michael missed having Pam at the front reception and wasn’t used to working so closely with Erin. But after Erin’s breakup with Andy, he softened up and was nicer to her.

In the episode where Michael moves from sales back to regional manager under Sabre, Erin helps him make his office a home again. As Michael’s breathing in the air, Erin reminds him that she has his foot fan and food dehydrator under the desk… Unbeknownst to fans, Michael also has a plethora of items under his desk as well as on top!

A Look Into Michael’s Office Cabinet

When staring at Michael’s desk, there’s a big brown cabinet to the right.  He doesn’t open it often, but when he does, the cameras are intrigued to know what he keeps in there. In ‘Murder,’ Michael showed off his stack of board games at the bottom of the cabinet.

However, in another episode, Michael showed off some of his prized plaques and certificates. On the door, cameras saw a clipping of the staff newsletter with Jan on the cover. A fan also pointed out on Reddit that in later episodes, Michael swapped Jan’s picture for Holly’s.

And A Deeper Look At His Prized Possessions

In ‘Dwight’s Speech,’ Michael tried giving Dwight good business advice after he won the Salesman of the Year Award for Dunder Mifflin. To prove to everyone that he too once won the award, he opened his cabinet, unlocked his safe, and pulled out his plaque.

It’s a little odd that the only things Michael had in his safe were a silver tea set and two awards from Dunder Mifflin. It could have contained extra money for the Party Planning Committee or even a few of Dwight’s weapons, but no — it’s a tea set without meaning and two awards.
