Shake had an emotional breakthrough on Love Is Blind season 2 episode 9 that might’ve changed his relationship with Deepti Vempati for the better.
Warning! SPOILERS ahead for Love Is Blind season 2 episodes 1-9 below!
After struggling to break through over the course of the season, Shake finally broke down and showed some very real vulnerability to Deepti Vempati on Love Is Blind season 2 episode 9. Fans were introduced to Deepti as a 31-year-old data analyst and Abhishek Chatterjee a.k.a. Shake as a 32-year-old veterinarian and house DJ. After a succession of bad interactions in the pods where Shake asked women about their body shapes and sizes, Deepti finally found a deep connection with Deepti.
When Shake and Deepti first met, he found her extremely beautiful and couldn’t keep his hands to himself. Their first interaction ended up with Shake proposing to Deepti. In later episodes, however, Shake expressed time and time again that he had a hard time connecting with Deepti on a physical level. Shake’s costars had a hard time understanding him given how gorgeous Deepti is, but Shake couldn’t shake (pun intended) the way he felt around his fiancée.
Finally, in episode 9, Shake had a very deep and important conversation with Deepti about his own insecurities and explained why he might’ve acted a certain way and/or said a few things on the show. As Shake asked Deepti to rate the sushi they were having over dinner, she asked if he ever allows himself to think less and just feel things for what they are. He started, « Something that I’ve kind of just realized is… a lot of times in the last few weeks, I found myself kind of pushing you away, but I care about you so much. » He went on to say that no one knows him as well as Deepti does and that he’s never been this open with anybody else in his life.
Generally, this conversation between Shake and Deepti really underscored his instincts to always rate and compare different things in his life – from food to objects to experiences and even to the women that he dated. Deepti clearly appreciated seeing this vulnerable said of Shake, so she heard him out. A teary-eyed Shake explained that, in the past, he didn’t always appreciate the women he had in his life. « But how you handle those situations, » Shake noted, « it honestly has the opposite effect. I just end up loving you more. » Deepti reacted to Shake’s statement with a very sincere smile and talked about this being their chance to start a long-lasting relationship and build a family together.
Fans are one week away from the Love Is Blind season 2 finale. Therefore, viewers won’t know how Shake and Deepti’s story ends until that final episode of the season. Deepti’s feelings have been pretty consistent with Shake. In turn, Shake has gone back and forth with his feelings. However, this might’ve been the breakthrough moment that he needed.
