GTA Online Player Launched Into Air & Wasted Due To Weird Gate Glitch

A Grand Theft Auto Online player has discovered a weird gate glitch that instantly kills them before launching them into the sky on Cayo Perico.

One Grand Theft Auto Online player exploring Cayo Perico has accidentally run into a weird gate glitch, catapulting them across the sky and instantly killing them after appearing to be stuck between two metal fences. Glitches are a memorable factor in the history of Rockstar Games and became widely popularized with the studio’s first groundbreaking sandbox title in the series Grand Theft Auto III. While commonly giving Grand Theft Auto titles a more comical approach, some glitches have caused all types of problems for players especially in Grand Theft Auto Online, ranging from unbeatable missions due to vehicle spawns to the disappearance of valuable items.

Oxtero VIDEO OF THE DAY

Despite releasing nearly a decade ago, Rockstar’s acclaimed open-world sandbox arguably continues to be the studio’s biggest and most popular title to date. Though its base game hasn’t been improved upon or revamped since its latest rerelease in 2014, the title’s online multiplayer mode has received major expansions since 2015 that add new content, features and continue to expand the title way beyond its longevity. Due to its massive player base and continued financial success, Grand Theft Auto V is set to rerelease for a second time on current-gen consoles in March, almost a decade after its initial release. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players will be able to experience the Expanded & Enhanced Edition of the title with improved visuals and gameplay enhancements, and many other new features that will keep the current-gen remaster distinctive from the versions seen before.

Shared on Reddit, user thedogylt posted a clip of what appears to be an obscure gate glitch that instantly kills players before launching them into the air. During the short clip, the player can be seen in an unknown location in Cayo Perico, Grand Theft Auto Online‘s newest island added as a part of a heist last year. While approaching the gated fence to achieve their motorcycle, which is seen to be parked exactly beside the fence, the player can be seen struggling to open the gate, before being stuck between the fence and flung in the same direction, dying instantly. It’s unknown if the glitch can be replicated, but the user’s sarcastic reaction says a lot about the number of anonymous game-breaking glitches in the game.

Glitches that launch players are heavily contained within Grand Theft Auto titles. Most infamously, a similar bug known as the swingset glitch in Grand Theft Auto IV launches players at high speeds across the map while in a vehicle or on foot if there is an additional player. Over the years similar glitches have been discovered in Grand Theft Auto Online and players continue to find and duplicate them to keep themselves entertained.

Grand Theft Auto’s hidden glitches are simply created by programming mistakes during development. These bugs aren’t visible and can only be pointed out if discovered, and seeing how each title in the series includes massive open-worlds, sometimes they aren’t found for years. With Grand Theft Auto Online continuing to expand, more of these glitches are expected to pop up anonymously, so players can expect more random occurrences while exploring Los Santos.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
