Word stemming from the Spanish media on Monday suggests that those in a position of power at Barcelona have come to a decision on the future of Luuk de Jong.
And the news will no doubt be met with delight on the part of the hitman himself.
This comes amid claims on the part of Mundo Deportivo, citing La Cadena Cope, that de Jong will remain a member of Xavi Hernandez’s ranks for the remainder of the campaign.

It was previously reported that the Blaugrana were ready to send their on-loan striker back to parent club back to Sevilla prematurely, as de Jong struggled to impress after being brought to Catalunya under the watch of fellow countryman Ronald Koeman.
Goals in three of his last four appearances, though, appears to have proven enough to convince Xavi and co. of the Dutchman’s credentials as a valuable contributor for the 2nd half of the campaign.

Alaves downed
Whilst it is Luuk who has taken his place front and centre in the chatter surrounding ongoings at Barcelona on Monday, 24 hours ago, it was namesake Frenkie de Jong who proved the hero for the Catalans.
This came in the club’s latest La Liga outing, when the Blaugrana made the trip to Deportivo Alaves, desperate for all three points amid their efforts to close the gap on the top-4 in the Spanish top-flight.
And, when all was said and done, bag a first victory in four across all competitions is precisely what Barca managed.
Fans of the visitors were forced to wait until the 87th-minute for their side’s all-important winner, though, as the aforementioned Frenkie de Jong slotted home from close range on the back of a layoff from January arrival Ferran Torres:
